You’re online. You’ve got a website. And traffic. And it’s growing. You want to “monetize” your traffic… turn it into dollars in your pocket.

There are dozens of ways to make money online. Today I want to talk about using a marketplace to assist you.

Adsense is one option. Let Google serve up ads on your site, share part of the revenue when people click on an ad. Depending on your content/traffice and number of clicks this can be lucrative.

Or, with a smaller site and less traffic, it can be slow. 80 cents here, 5 cents there… and you never know what you’ll be earning or when you’ll get paid.

A lot of online marketers then turn to “Affiliate” marketing — selling someone else’s product and keeping a commission on the sale. That is how just about EVERY retail business works, from supermarkets and newsagents to clothing stores and even travel agents. It’s a “tried and true” way to earn a living.

Best of all, a sale is worth a whole lot more that a share of an Adsense click. But — it requires a sale. You might send 50 clicks and earn nothing, whereas with Adsense, you’ll earn a small amount for each click, regardless of what happens after that.

One of the most popular affiliate marketplaces is Clickbank. If you don’t have an account, go and signup for a Clickbank account.

Once you’ve logged in, you can find products to promote in 100s of categories. Link to the product’s sales page (there are other dozens of ways to promote other than just via websites)… and when a sale is made, part of the revenue is paid to you.

That is of course so long as you were the last in the chain to send a visitor to that site, and your affiliate link went through. There are some pitfalls, but once you know what you’re doing, this can be very lucrative, even without a product, even without a website.

Better yet, if you have your own product, this is the place to find 100s of affiliates to sell it for you. Give them the right tools and the opportunity to make money, and have the right product with the right offer (both for the affiliate and end user), and you have a winning combination. They have the traffic, they promote your product, and you reward them for sales.

Of course, for both affiliates and publishers, there are a LOT of strategies and methods to consider to make yourself a success. How you identify a market, and a product, and a promotional campaign, and track it… that is skill and expertise you can either take time to learn, or fast-track your success by leveraging off the knowledge of experts.
